Role Overview
We are seeking an enthusiastic and caring individual to join us as a Mobile Service Engineer. You will support our service centre and assist patients in the community. Our Ipswich Approved Repair Service supports the NHS Wheelchair Service across Suffolk, and we pride ourselves on our achievements in supporting others.
Ross Care, part of Medux, partners with the NHS to supply essential equipment and aids to schools, care homes, hospitals, and patients at home daily.
Job Purpose
Help us meet contractual service standards by completing initial training in wheelchair reconditioning, gaining product knowledge, and supporting your development. Post-training, you will deliver, collect, repair, and service wheelchairs in the field, aiming for first-time fixes to minimize impact on patients. Our structured parts storage supports this goal, and our team takes pride in our achievements.
The Role
* Deliver and collect wheelchairs from patients' homes and NHS departments, following infection control policies.
* Service and repair wheelchairs in the field, aiming for first-time fixes.
* Complete all paperwork accurately, including parts used and actions taken.
* Use PPE as instructed.
* Undertake out-of-hours responsibilities when rostered.
* Follow all vehicle regulations and maintain a tidy vehicle with necessary stock.
* Conduct weekly vehicle safety checks.
* Maintain a professional attitude, wear uniform and ID, and keep the uniform clean.
* Prioritize and organize workload, consulting with the Line Manager as needed.
* Maintain tools and equipment responsibly.
About You
* Full UK driving license.
* Successful enhanced DBS check.
* Knowledge of workshop and electrical systems (12v/24v D.C.).
* Ability to handle loads safely.
* Experience with face-to-face customer contact.
* Understanding of disabilities.
* Flexible working approach.
* Initiative within role boundaries.
* Ability to relay photographs via mobile phone.
* Good communication skills.
* Ability to give clear instructions.
* Familiarity with hand-held scanners.
Physical Demands
* Handling equipment safely.
* Standing, kneeling, crouching, and working in confined spaces.
* Using ramps and moving equipment.
