Job Title: 1:1 Learning Support Assistant (Year 2)
Location: Portsmouth
Start Date: ASAP
Contract: Full-time, fixed-term until July 2026 (with the potential to become permanent from September 2026)
About the Role
We are seeking a patient, enthusiastic, and dedicated 1:1 Learning Support Assistant to join our Key Stage 1 team in Portsmouth. This role involves working closely with a child in Year 2, providing tailored support to ensure they can access learning, build confidence, and make excellent progress.
Learning Support Assistant Key Responsibilities
* As a Learning Support Assistant you will provide focused 1:1 support for a child in Year 2, adapting activities to meet their needs
* As a Learning Support Assistant you will encourage positive engagement, independence, and resilience in learning
* As a Learning Support Assistant you will work collaboratively with the class teacher and SENCO to deliver personalised strategies and interventions
* As a Learning Support Assistant you will support the childs social and emotional development alongside academic progress
* As a Learning Support Assistant you will build strong relationships with the child, their family, and professionals involved in their care
What Were Looking For in a Learning Support Assistant
* A Learning Support Assistant with experience supporting children in Key Stage 1, ideally in a 1:1 or SEND support role
* A Learning Support Assistant with warmth, patience, and a nurturing approach to learning
* A Learning Support Assistant with excellent communication and teamwork skills
* A Learning Support Assistant with a proactive attitude and the ability to follow learning plans
* A Learning Support Assistant with a strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting childrens wellbeing
