Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Community Mental Health Practitioner to join the Scarborough Integrated Community team.

The service offers assessment and intervention within the community setting and aims to promote both recovery and living well.

Student Nurse's that are due to register in the next 3 months are very welcome to apply. Full training and Preceptorship programme will be provided to help you build confidence and develop your career in this specialist area.

Main duties of the job

This is an exciting opportunity to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team. As an autonomous practitioner you will have a genuine interest in collaborative working with adults experiencing mental health problems and including their carers and families.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone who wants to develop into a community role within a team of supportive and experienced professionals. As a core member of the team, you will also be responsible for your own caseload, providing care co-ordination and delivering intervention in the community with people who have complex needs ranging from moderate level of need to severe and enduring level of need and complexity. You will demonstrate excellent assessment skills, interpersonal, and team working skills and be able to work collaboratively with a range of statutory and third sector agencies.

This in an exciting period of development with our already well-established team and will enable the post holder to bring their skills and experience into new and innovative service development opportunities.

Job description

Job responsibilities

You will have an enthusiastic approach towards your own personal and professional development. In return, you will receive regular appraisal, clinical, management, group and caseload supervision and will benefit from the support of an experienced and committed multi-disciplinary leadership team, including the Team Manager and the Clinical Nurse Specialist.

Due to the nature of the role, it is essential that applicants are able to travel independently across the locality and have access to a suitable vehicle for business purposes. If necessary, adjustments can be considered in accordance with the Equality Act 2010.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Current professional registration with an approved professional body
  • Evidence of Continuing Professional Development
  • For registered nurses: MIP, FLIP, ENB 998 Teaching & Assessing in Clinical Practice or City & Guilds 730 Teaching in Adult Education or willingness to work towards. Qualification must be achieved within agreed timescale.
  • Trained Clinical Supervisor (within agreed timescale)
  • Key skills in literacy, numeracy and ITQ level 2 (or equivalent)
  • Desirable

  • Post-graduate qualification in a relevant area
  • Experience

    Essential

  • Working with people with mental ill health.
  • Desirable

  • Working in a person centred therapeutic organisation
  • Working in a community setting
  • Working collaboratively with service users and their families/carers
  • Working in a multi-disciplinary team
  • Working in partnership with other agencies
  • Knowledge

    Essential

  • Evidenced based knowledge of best practice in caring for patients in the designated field.
  • Understanding of relevant legislation (. Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act).
  • Care Programme Approach and its application in practice.
  • Understanding of Safeguarding and its application in practice.
  • Clinical Risk Assessment and Management and its application in practice.
  • Clinical Governance and Clinical Supervision.
  • Research and development methodology.
  • Awareness of psychological models of care and treatment
