Immunisation Nurses - Greater Manchester
Clinical Practice
* Provide safe delivery of a quality immunisations service.
* Identify, prioritise, and implement programmes of care that meet the needs of patients.
* Take into account risk and its effective management, e.g., consent, side effects.
* Take responsibility for CPD and stay updated with current practices and research developments.
* Identify and report new problems and concerns to the Locality Lead Nurse.
* Work towards PGDs and PSDs.
Communication
* Communicate effectively with team members, parents, carers, and school staff.
Delivering a Quality Service
* Recognise and work within own competence and professional code of conduct as regulated by the NMC.
* Maintain and promote quality, working collaboratively with admin to manage school workload.
* Support shared learning and networking across immunisation teams.
* Understand and apply legal policies that support safeguarding children and adults.
Team Working
* Act as lead clinician during immunisation sessions.
* Collaborate with administration and school staff during sessions.
Management of Risk
* Ensure safe storage, rotation, and disposal of vaccines and drugs.
* Follow cold chain procedures for transporting and storing items.
* Practise infection-control measures per guidelines.
Managing Information
* Work in accordance with GDPR policies.
* Ensure accurate and clear recording of patient records, stored as per procedures.
* Understand responsibilities regarding the Freedom of Information Act.
Learning and Development
* Complete all mandatory and statutory training.
* Take responsibility for personal learning needs and CPD.
Equality and Diversity
* Ensure all staff adhere to equality and diversity procedures.
Health and Safety
* Take reasonable care for personal and others' health and safety.
* Co-operate with regulations to ensure statutory safety standards are met.
