About Liaison and Diversion (L&D) services
L&D services identify people who have vulnerabilities when they first come into contact with the criminal justice system as suspects, defendants or offenders. L&D services aim to improve overall health outcomes, reduce re‑offending through proactive referrals and inform decision makers. They identify vulnerabilities early to ensure the right support is put in place from the start.
The successful applicant will work in police custody suites and occasionally the courts, working with people where vulnerabilities are suspected and further assessment is indicated to inform disposal of the case and identify care pathways for appropriate onward referral/support.
Due to the nature of the service, there is an additional requirement to secure police vetting. Candidates require at least three‑years residency in the UK.
The ‘must haves’ for this role
1. Educated to degree level in health and social care or an equivalent professional or vocational qualification in health and social care subjects, or equivalent experience of working in a health or social care setting.
2. Licence holder with access to personal vehicle and prepared to travel across Berkshire as required (travel and mileage will be reimbursed in line with our Trust’s policy).
3. A warm personality, good communication and people skills.
4. Experience of working in a health and social care setting with a willingness to develop the service and your own practice.
