An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Ward Clerk to work within our friendly team on the Emergency Surgical Unit (ward 2)
This vacancy would suit someone who is enthusiastic, caring and compassionate person and looking for the opportunity of working within a fast paced unit
This is ideal for someone who is interested in building on their current admin skills and experiencing a interesting new challenge.
As ward clerk some of the tasks required are:
Greeting patients on arrival to assessment unit.
Answering the phone from different departments, members of the multi disciplinary team and relatives of patients on the Unit, providing a professional response at all times.
Having good knowledge of the various admin systems that are in use within the Trust (Training will be provided.) Thus being able to admit, discharge and transfer patients time specific and safely
Requesting blood and specimens from ICE.
Keep our live patient flow system (nerve centre up to date )
Liaising with patient flow accident and emergency when department full and unable to accept patients
Assists with ordering various supplies for the Unit
Responsible for self, allocated workload and time management.
Directly managed by the Ward Manager and accountable to the Unit Managers and work closely with the manage to create positive outcomes.

Main duties of the job

Work closely and communicate with the multi-disciplinary team
Ensure correct filing of notes and notes sent for scanning in a timely manner
Sending emails to book appointments for patients follow up
Chase scan appointments and inform patients of time and date.
Help ward manager with data collection and any other duties required to be done.

This is ideal for someone who is interested in building on their current admin skills and experiencing a fast paced and interesting new challenge.
A Ward Clerk on ESU is a face-paced and challenging role duties include the following:
Working with a large friendly team to ensure that patients are safely, admitted, transferred and discharged accurately.
Answering the phone from different departments, members of the multi disciplinary team and relatives of patients on the Unit, providing a professional response at all times.
Having good knowledge of the various admin systems that are in use within the Trust (Training will be provided.)
Assists with ordering various supplies for the Unit
Responsible for self, allocated workload and time management.
Directly managed by the Ward Manager and accountable to the Unit Managers and work closely with the manage to create positive outcomes.
The shift pattern will include long days and weekend and bank holiday working
