About The Role

Helping to identify and win profitable work for the GRAHAM business, the Business Development Manager (BDM) will play a lead role in finding new project opportunities suitable for the civil engineering business across a number of Engineering sectors, including Highways, Bridges, Maritime, Nuclear & Defence.
The role will comprise the discovery and development of leads and opportunities using all effective means; updating the Customer Relations Management database with the same and presenting the leads to the Pre-Construction Team as required and during regular meetings.
The BDM will work closely with Contract Directors and the pre-construction team to assist in managing the processes designed to capture and respond to client requirements such as meetings, Expressions of Interest, Prequalification and Invitation to Tender administration.
The role requires excellent communication and networking skills and the BDM will be expected to meet with the Client where possible and appropriate, maintaining a working relationship based on trust and integrity.
A key part of the BDM role is identifying potential supply chain partners and, specifically, design consultancies capable of fulfilling the necessary role and able to assist in the collection of business intelligence relevant to the particular market.
The candidate will be a skilful team player with a high level of knowledge in relation to civil engineering markets, practices and design principles; and will be capable of communicating these principles to clients and others in the form of discussions or presentations at face-to-face meetings.
The candidate will also be required to assist the marketing team whenever necessary in the delivery of a marketing strategy to both advertise and protect the Graham Brand in the appropriate sectors.
Completion of regular Monthly Reporting is required alongside which the BDM will be expected to contribute to the company market strategies and provide current, accurate information to assist in financial forecasting. Job Description

The Business Development Manager shall:

1.Identify and evaluate the suitability of new opportunities for the business.
2.Liaise with clients and stakeholders in terms of the progress of opportunities.
3.Work closely with all members of the business as required.
4.Contribute to a BD strategy, targets and pipeline for review by the Pre-Construction Director.
5.Operate with initiative at all times to identify new opportunities alongside networking and cold calling.
6.Input and maintain up-to-date project, client and contact data in the Customer Relations Management (CRM) system.
7.Prepare documentation where required to inform senior management.
8.Liaise with other staff, consultants and supply chain to ensure the highest chances of project success.
9.Follow core business systems and policies throughout your area of responsibility.
10.Expect to spend time travelling for meetings, site visits etc. and anticipate staying away from home overnight when required.
11.Assist the Marketing teams, as required, to promote the business


This job description is intended to give the post holder an appreciation of the role envisaged for the Business Development Manager and the range of duties to be undertaken. •Possess relevant experience in a civil engineering environment
•Hold excellent communication and networking skills both written and oral
•Be an excellent team player, working with others within and outside the business
•Ability to be self-motivating and manage own calendar
•Be comfortable using software systems
•Ability to show initiative when dealing with a variety of situations
•Be presentable and polite when representing the business
•Hold a valid driving licence
Desirable
•Educated to Degree level or equivalent
