The role
A well-established secondary school in Northumberland is seeking a Pastoral Mentor to support pupils across KS3–KS5. The school has a strong emphasis on personal development, attendance, and behaviour standards, and is looking for a confident professional who can provide consistent pastoral and behavioural support.
This role would suit someone experienced in supporting young people with SEMH needs, attendance concerns, or behavioural challenges within a structured secondary setting.

£110 – £130 per day | PAYE | Depending on experience

Key responsibilities
6. Provide 1:1 and small group pastoral support
7. Support pupils with behaviour, attendance, or SEMH needs
8. Work closely with Heads of Year, SENCO and safeguarding staff
9. Implement behaviour plans and restorative approaches
10. Monitor progress and maintain accurate records
The ideal candidate
11. Experience working with young people in education, youth work, care or similar settings
12. Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills
13. Calm, consistent and professional approach
14. Confident liaising with staff and external agencies
15. Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)
