Senior Quantity Surveyor
Location: Worcester
Salary: £65,000 – £80,000
I’m working with a premium residential developer who are looking for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their Commercial team in Worcester. This is a key strategic role in a growing business, ideal for someone with strong housebuilding experience and leadership capability.
You’ll take commercial responsibility for three live residential sites, collectively delivering over 500 new homes. These are large-scale, multi-phase developments requiring careful budget management, proactive risk mitigation, and robust commercial reporting.
You’ll lead on all aspects of cost planning, subcontractor procurement, valuations, change management, and final accounts, ensuring that each project is delivered profitably and in line with commercial targets.
You will be supported by a Quantity Surveyor and an Assistant Quantity Surveyor, whom you’ll manage and mentor day-to-day. Working closely with site teams, technical, construction, and finance, you’ll ensure a fully integrated approach to commercial delivery across your projects.
Key Responsibilities:
* Full commercial oversight of 3 residential developments (500+ units in total)
* Preparing and managing project budgets, forecasts, and cost reports
* Procuring and managing subcontractor packages, including contract administration
* Producing accurate CVRs and reporting to senior management
* Managing monthly valuations, interim payments, and final accounts
* Identifying and valuing variations and managing change
* Leading and mentoring a QS and AQS
* Supporting land viability appraisals and project start-up
* Driving best practice in cost control and commercial risk management
Requirements:
* Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior QS in residential housebuilding
* Strong knowledge of JCT contracts and procurement processes
* Excellent commercial acumen and negotiation skills
* Ability to lead on multiple sites and manage junior team members
* Organised, detail-focused and confident communicator across departments
