Overview
This is an exciting opportunity to join Team Caerphilly and provide support across the wider Social Services Fostering Team. The successful candidate will need excellent assessment and analysis skills and the ability to engage and communicate effectively with Foster Carers, their families and children who are looked after. You will focus on wellbeing and safety of children and be able to support and guide Foster Carers to build on their holistic skills, with a commitment to improve outcomes for children and young people.
Responsibilities
* Support the Fostering Team in recruiting, assessing, supporting, supervising and reviewing general foster carers.
* Complete Connected Persons Assessments of family members/connected persons for a child who cannot, or may not be able to, remain with their birth family.
* Work as part of a team where duties are split between supporting, supervising and reviewing current and newly approved foster carers and, separately, recruiting and assessing general foster carers alongside completing Connected Persons Assessments.
Qualifications
* A Diploma/Degree in Social Work or predecessor. Social Workers qualifying after 1 April 2016 are required to complete the Consolidation of Practice qualification within the first three years of practice.
* Up to date knowledge of current legislation, research and practice issues in childcare.
* Excellent communication skills with children, young people, their families/carers and professionals.
* A full UK Category B (Cars) driving licence and the use of a motor vehicle insured for business purposes to travel throughout the borough to attend meetings.
* You must possess a Diploma/Degree in Social Work or predecessor and be registered as a Social Worker with Social Care Wales (or able to transfer from another recognised body).
* The current registration requirements state that completion of the Consolidation of Practice qualification within the first 3 years of practice is mandatory; failure to complete may affect renewal of registration.
