Bermuda is renowned for a high standard of living, outdoor activities, historical towns, beautiful beaches, wonderful climate.IMS is seeking an experienced PSYCHOLOGIST/ADDICTION COUNSELLOR to provide individual and group counselling based on the Twelve Core Functions of Addiction Counselors.Key responsibilities include:Conducts initial intake and assessment on clients and collaborate with clients on treatment planningProvide treatment to persons who have substance use disorders and mental health issues.Advocates on behalf of clients with partner agencies and refers clients to other services as requiredPlans and monitors aftercare progress with clients, involving significant others and family members, emphasizing the importance of a recovery program, the self-help community, sponsorship and other community support agencies and resources.Liaises with internal and external departments as needed.Provides education and training in the area of substance use disorders.Manages challenging situations and behaviors.Prepares progress reports for various agencies including treatment agencies, the courts and other referral sources.Observes collection of urine samplesFacilitates multiple groups and provides individual counselling based on treatment plan

RequirementsMaster's Degree in Counseling, Human Services, Psychology or a similar fieldMinimum of 2 years' experience working in inpatient/outpatient services for the addicted population.Experience working with clients receiving medication assisted treatment.Must be eligible for registtration with the Allied Health Council and Bermuda Addiction Certification Board as an Internationally Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (ICADC)Demonstrated knowledge of various counselling therapies ( e.g. Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Client-Centered Therapy, Family Systems Therapy, Trauma Informed Care etc .)
