It's your time and talent, make it count. The Apprenticeship An apprenticeship is a paid job where the employee learns and gains valuable, real-life experience. We are looking for 1 apprentice to join our Environment, Health & Safety Team located at our Peterborough facility (PE1 5FQ). This 2-year advanced apprenticeship scheme will enable you to grow and develop your capabilities. From day one, you will be embedded in a team, solving real world problems through combining college-based learning with on-the-job training. You'll learn the latest skills and knowledge from our Environment Health and Safety Team. Our EHS team members will be mentoring and guiding you through your journey to ensure you have a rounded experience through your learning experience. As part of this learning, you will be involved in: · Assisting in performing inspections and tests planned to monitor specific SHE issues · Assist and learn from the team in the creation and implementation of policies, procedures, and regulations pertaining to SHE · Learn and be involved in making and maintaining necessary SHE records according to established guidelines · Be involved and learning about risk management at a fundamental level with increasing levels of autonomy and responsibility as you learn and increase your SHE skills Our apprentices will: · Earn a competitive salary package, starting at c. £23,901 per year, · Receive 25 days annual leave, plus bank holidays, · Have access to a 9% annual bonus, a share scheme, a pension scheme, flexible benefits, flexible working opportunities and family-friendly policies. In collaboration with our partnered training provider, University of Lincoln, our 2-year advanced apprenticeship scheme will enable you to grow and develop your capabilities. Alongside on-the-job training supported by relatable mentors, apprentices will spend at least 20% of their working hours completing college-based learning leading to nationally recognised qualifications through the Level 3 Safety, Health & Environment Technician. You will learn through online lectures and tutorials, work-based projects, problem solving exercises, online class discussions, presentations by subject matter experts and peers, and independent study. Applied learning is also embedded into this course, giving you the opportunity to undertake live projects in the workplace and apply your new skills in practical settings. The Experience A Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) Technician Apprentice is a practical, detail-focused role where individuals learn and develop the expertise required to support safe, healthy, and environmentally responsible working practices across the organisation. This position involves assisting with the implementation of policies, procedures, and controls relating to workplace safety, health, and environmental protection in line with legal and organisational requirements. The apprentice gains experience in identifying hazards, conducting risk assessments, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards. They learn to interpret technical documentation, monitor workplace activities, and report on incidents or near misses, while supporting the development of corrective actions. Apprentices also develop skills in promoting a positive safety culture, delivering toolbox talks, and communicating best practices to colleagues. This role provides an excellent foundation in SHE principles and operational techniques, preparing the apprentice for a rewarding career in the safety, health, and environmental sector within engineering and manufacturing industries. Entry Requirement · GCSEs: Five GCSEs at Grade 4 (C) or above including Maths, English. · A-Levels: Not required. NOTE: Equivalent academic qualifications to the above requirements welcome.
