Role overview
The Technology Strategy Manager will play a critical role in executing the Group’s strategy, working closely with senior stakeholders to develop, refine, and track the tech strategy, ensuring alignment with JD Sports’ broader business goals.
Responsibilities
1. Develop, refine, and communicate the tech strategy in collaboration with senior leaders, aligning with JD’s omnichannel objectives.
2. Act as a liaison between technical teams and business units to ensure alignment and clarity.
3. Lead workshops to gather input, build consensus, and secure stakeholder buy-in.
4. Analyze financial and operational data to develop business cases and strategic materials.
5. Support the development of KPIs and initiative-tracking frameworks.
6. Create compelling messaging to convey complex technical concepts to stakeholders.
7. Manage the annual budget for the Technology function.
8. Support the development of the Technology Roadmap for transformative projects.
Competencies
1. Strategy expertise in business and technology planning and execution.
2. Strong financial and quantitative skills.
3. Knowledge of financial tools, balance sheet analysis, and budgeting.
4. Proficiency in Excel, Tableau, or similar analytical tools.
5. Understanding of software development methodologies, cloud platforms, web technologies, and ability to translate concepts among stakeholders.
6. Stakeholder management skills to collaborate with senior leaders.
7. Influence and emotional intelligence to persuade and explain concepts effectively.
8. Change management ability to adapt to organizational change and ambiguity.
Education and Experience
1. Bachelor’s or master’s degree in business, management, or related field, or equivalent experience.
2. 3+ years in management consultancy or accounting, ideally in Technology, Digital, or IT, at or near Senior Consultant level.
3. 1+ years of business experience in Retail or Technology sectors.
