About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the NHS Golden Jubilee Digital Department for an IT Technical Specialist. We are looking for a knowledgeable, self‑motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our Operations team of skilled Technical Specialists. Candidates should have good people, communication, problem‑solving and technical skills, as well as being a good team player, with the ability to work autonomously.
Responsibilities
The role will provide the successful applicant with an interesting, varied and rewarding challenge. The team provides and manages the underlying operational infrastructure across the entire campus, including the Golden Jubilee University National Hospital, NHS Scotland Academy, Golden Jubilee Research Institute, Golden Jubilee Conference Hotel and The National Centre for Sustainable Delivery. Currently we are working on several significant projects, using new and innovative technologies, to provide high availability and resiliency to a number of key patient services hosted across multiple data centres.
* Server, backup and storage infrastructure refresh
* Maintenance, performance and availability monitoring
* Support for the user base accessing the underlying services
The post holder will work as part of an established team, ensuring that the infrastructure is developed and maintained to the highest standards.
Qualifications
* Educated to degree level in an IT related subject (or equivalent experience)
* Proven track record working in complex infrastructure environments
* Experience with Virtualisation technologies (both server and desktop)
* In‑depth knowledge of Microsoft products: Active Directory, Azure, Exchange and M365
* Desirable: industry certification in the aforementioned areas and working knowledge of SCCM/InTune, backup and load balancing technologies
Location and Working Arrangements
The successful candidate will be based in the Digital department of the Golden Jubilee University National Hospital, Clydebank. The role offers a hybrid model of working (part office‑based, part working from home).
NHS Golden Jubilee is open to considering flexible working options for this role.
