The Role
As a Cover Supervisor, you will play a key role in maintaining continuity of learning during teacher absences. Working with students aged 11 to 16 across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, you will be responsible for delivering pre-prepared lessons in a variety of subjects. Your primary focus will be to ensure that students remain engaged, behave appropriately, and continue their learning in a structured environment.
Responsibilities include:
* Supervising whole classes during short-term teacher absences.
* Delivering lesson content prepared by the subject teacher across a range of subjects, including core areas like Maths, English, and Science, as well as Humanities and other subjects.
* Managing classroom behaviour and applying school policies to ensure a calm and productive learning environment.
* Supporting students with their learning when appropriate and answering questions related to the lesson content.
* Reporting back to teaching staff regarding student engagement, behaviour, and any notable incidents.

Candidate Requirements
We welcome applicants from a variety of backgrounds, particularly those with experience working with young people in educational or youth support settings. You do not need to be a qualified teacher to apply.
Essential criteria:
* Experience working with secondary-aged students (either in schools, tutoring, coaching, or youth work).
* Confidence in managing classroom behaviour and keeping students engaged.
* A professional and flexible approach to your work.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
* Willingness to cover a range of subjects across the curriculum.
* A valid DBS certificate registered on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one.
Desirable:
* A degree or equivalent qualification.
Qualified teachers looking for a more flexible or non-teaching role are also encouraged to apply.
