Job summary
We have flexible bank shifts and long-term placementopportunities available for HCPC registered Biomedical Scientists available atUniversity Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust.
The successful applicant will initially be assigned to oneof the Specialist areas of Biochemistry, which include MetabolicChromatography, Trace Elements, LC-MS, and Endocrinology. You may be assignedto other parts of the Biochemistry laboratory as per service need.
Main duties of the job
The lab provides a comprehensive 7-day service coveringbacteriology, mycobacteriology, mycology, virology, serology and parasitology,and molecular testing. You will rotate across these sections. You will berequired to work shifts on a 24/7 rota system, which includes weekend and bankholiday working, and early/day/late/night shifts.

* To handle radioactive materialsaccording to IRMA regulations
* To deal with spillage ofsamples/chemicals in a safe and appropriate manner when necessary
* To use laboratory equipmentsafely in accordance with local and manufacturers guidelines.
