Barker Ross is recruiting an Irrigation Engineer to join a growing and well-established agricultural engineering business. This is a hands-on role suited to a mechanically minded engineer who enjoys working with new machinery and supporting customers during critical seasonal periods.
The Role
You will be responsible for the assembly, inspection, servicing, and repair of irrigation equipment including hose reels, pumps, and booms. The role is primarily workshop-based, with occasional UK travel to customer sites for servicing and breakdowns.
Key Responsibilities
* Carry out pre-delivery inspections (PDI) on new equipment
* Assemble machinery to customer specifications
* Service, maintain, and repair irrigation equipment
* Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and basic electrical faults
* Attend customer sites across the UK when required
* Complete service and inspection records accurately
What We're Looking For
* Background as an Agricultural Engineer, Mechanical Engineer, Plant Fitter, or similar
* Strong mechanical knowledge and hands-on experience
* Proven ability to service and repair machinery or equipment
* Ability to work independently and as part of a small team
* Proactive approach with strong attention to detail
* Good communication and customer service skills
* Full UK driving licence
Desirable (Not Essential)
* Experience with irrigation or agricultural machinery
* Basic electrical fault-finding
* Welding or fabrication experience
* Understanding of basic hydraulic systems
* Forklift licence
Working Hours
* Monday-Thursday: 08:00-17:00
* Friday: 08:00-16:30
* 42 hours per week
* Overtime available
* On-call rota required
