About the Job
Join our SAP Global Basis team, a highly collaborative global group responsible for the design, automation, and 24/7 support of General Mills’ SAP infrastructure.
In this role, you’ll help ensure the reliability, performance, and scalability of critical SAP platforms that power our global business. Working in a modern cloud and automation-driven environment, you’ll contribute to technical architecture, infrastructure optimisation, and system lifecycle management across SAP and its supporting applications such as Swift, Taulia, IQ NLS, and Content Server.
This is an exciting opportunity for a technically curious engineer who enjoys solving complex infrastructure challenges, driving automation, and working with global teams to deliver resilient enterprise systems.
What your role is
As a key member of the SAP Global Basis team, you’ll help maintain and evolve our global SAP landscape, ensuring high levels of system performance, availability, and operational excellence.
You’ll proactively manage SAP instances and HANA database clusters, identify performance issues, and implement improvements to keep systems running efficiently. You’ll also design and implement infrastructure automation using tools such as Ansible and Terraform, applying infrastructure-as-code principles within our cloud hyperscaler environment.
Working closely with architects, engineers, and external partners, you’ll contribute to technical design decisions, SAP lifecycle strategies, and future system landscapes. You’ll also play an important role in patching and upgrading SAP systems, supporting technology recovery strategies, and continuously improving operational processes.
Beyond technical delivery, you’ll collaborate across teams, mentor colleagues, and help strengthen technical standards and documentation across the organisation.
As part of a global support model, you’ll participate in periodic on-call rotations to help ensure the stability of our mission-critical platforms (approximately 3-4 weekends per year for 24x7, and 5-6 workweeks per year for 12x5).
What you will bring to the team
You bring strong experience in SAP Basis or HANA administration, with a deep understanding of enterprise infrastructure and the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues. You enjoy working in collaborative global environments and are comfortable balancing operational stability with continuous improvement and innovation.
You’ll have 5+ years of experience managing SAP landscapes, along with knowledge of technologies such as Linux or Windows Server, HANA or other relational databases, and infrastructure automation tools like Ansible or Terraform. Experience working in cloud environments (ideally GCP) and supporting NetWeaver ABAP/Java systems will be valuable.
Alongside strong technical capability, you bring excellent problem-solving skills, the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment, and the communication skills needed to collaborate across global technical teams.
