Responsibilities
* Attend, diagnose and resolve faults on traffic signal assets and related equipment as outlined in the Traffic Signal Maintenance contract.
* Complete reactive and proactive maintenance tasks, ensuring high quality standards are met.
* Conduct periodic inspections of traffic signal assets, ancillary equipment and/or highways systems, including electrical testing.
* Install, replace and set up traffic signal assets, ancillary equipment and/or other highway systems, unsupervised or as part of a team.
* Perform remedial works following incidents such as Road Traffic Collisions or equipment failure/damage.
* Build and maintain a positive relationship with customers and collaborate with contractors on site.
* Use hand tools, power tools, working at height and manual handling aids in accordance with risk assessments, method statements and relevant training.
* Produce and submit high quality, detailed and accurate clearance notes via the Fault Management System and other digital platforms as required.
* Support the contract management team and customers with site surveys and visits to assist in the efficient and safe delivery of works.
* Complete works in accordance with contract‑specific requirements, such as adhering to response & repair times or carrying out periodic/planned works in line with the schedule and specification.
* Book time according to the Variable Pay Policy – Field Services and Live Time Booking process.
* Meet the minimum requirements of the Highway Registrations Scheme (HERS) occupation and work toward or complete the associated NVQ level.
* Complete mandatory National Highway Sector Scheme training and product and equipment training; training will be a mixture of formal, peer‑to‑peer, on‑the‑job and self‑learning.
* Work out of hours to support service and installation needs, including participation in on‑call rota.
* Support a positive Health & Safety culture in accordance with company policies and procedures, such as reviewing risk assessments, event reporting, vehicle & equipment checks and using lone working devices correctly.
* Accurately collect and process data to enable fault‑free analysis of equipment performance.
* Ensure works are completed in accordance with the site specification, in a timely manner and to a sufficient quality level.
* Support the training, development and upskilling of other team members.
* Adopt new business policies and processes in a positive way.
* Perform any other duties reasonably requested within the skills required for the role to enable seamless service delivery.
Qualifications & Experience
* 4 GCSEs including Mathematics and English (Grades A‑C / 4‑9) or HNC/ONC/City and Guilds or equivalent experience in electrical engineering or similar.
* Traffic Signals and/or Highways industry experience preferred, not essential.
* Reliability/Dependability – consistently performs at a high level; manages time and workload effectively to meet responsibilities.
