Welcome to King John’s House and Museum. We are a small museum entering an exciting new phase and looking for new trustees to help us take this forward. Freddie Law Turner (Chair of Trustees)
What difference will you make?
We wish to inject fresh thinking and energy into the Trust to ensure our future as a vibrant independent museum and gallery. As a Trustee you will support and shape our work, and help revitalise this much loved institution. As Treasurer, you will keep us on track and viable financially, and ensure the board fulfils its duties and responsibilities for the proper financial governance of the charity. You will also help us become financially independent and formulate our vision for the future.
What are we looking for?
We are looking for committed, forward-thinking people with experience of financial management and accounting. Please see attached role description for full details. We want our board of Trustees to be inclusive, diverse and linked to local communities. We particularly encourage applications for Trustee roles from people who are underrepresented within our board and within the cultural sector in Romsey. This includes young people, people from global majority backgrounds, disabled people, LGBTQIA+ people and people from diverse cultural and faith backgrounds. You do not need previous experience as a Trustee to apply. Previous experience in the museum/heritage sector would be helpful but is not essential.
What will you be doing?
Our Vision – KJH2030 Following a significant fire in February 2025, the Trustees are developing a new strategy for KJH (KJH2030) to make it a thriving, accessible cultural hub for Romsey and the surrounding areas. This will include conservation and restoration of the Grade 1 listed medieval hall, creation of new gallery spaces both for displays of the permanent collection and for temporary exhibitions and the development of a number of fully-accessible spaces suited to multiple uses. We are looking for new Treasurer to help shape and drive this journey. You will bring your experience of financial management and accounting to the table and have the opportunity to expand your skills working with a like-minded group of volunteers.
