Job Description
Job Purpose:
Under the guidance of the Director of Engineering / Engineering Supervisor, or designate, to maintain equipment and the building to a high standard, ensuring that every guest feels they are the only person using the facility upon arrival.
Duties & Functions:
* Responsible for plant equipment, including chillers, AC, chilled water, pumps, and boilers, including testing and maintenance.
* Attend to repair and maintain refrigeration equipment, chillers, walk-in coolers, and freezers.
* Ensure health and safety legislation records are logged and maintained.
* Source and contract suppliers as required.
* Organize schedules, methods of work, and risk assessments for plant-related areas.
* Be on call for any plant emergencies.
* Perform PPM checks.
* Manage and service air conditioning and refrigeration systems.
* Participate in the hotel energy conservation program.
* Attend all job training in accordance with departmental standards and procedures.
* Supervise the issuance and return of tools related to the Engineering department, ensuring safety.
* Manage contractors working on-site, including safety induction and maintaining records of all jobs undertaken.
* Liaise with contractors and suppliers.
* Raise, accept, and monitor purchase orders (POs).
* Accept deliveries promptly and appropriately.
* Supervise maintenance team and external contractors to ensure work meets deadlines and standards.
* Keep health and safety records up to date.
* Participate in the fire team and assist in emergencies.
* Monitor hotel utility readings to ensure efficient power management.
* Stay informed about regulatory changes and environmental issues.
* Perform other reasonable work and be available for emergency callouts.
* Collaborate with the Assistant Director of Engineering to reorganize the department for efficiency.
* Plan small guest projects to minimize impact.
* Oversee team and contractor work to meet deadlines and standards.
Qualifications
* 2 to 3 years of experience in a similar role within a five-star luxury hotel or resort.
* Experience as an Electrician with knowledge of electrical skills.
* Ability to communicate effectively in English.
