Overview
Our client, a trusted partner of the UK Ministry of Defence, is seeking a detail-focused General Operator to join their cutting-edge manufacturing team. This role is ideal for candidates with experience in microelectronics assembly, particularly those confident working under a microscope with extremely small components. You will be part of a high-performing team supporting the production of advanced missile systems, with a focus on precision soldering and assembly of circuit card components. Responsibilities
* Assemble and solder microelectronic components under a microscope
* Follow detailed manufacturing instructions and quality standards
* Support sub-assembly and certification processes
* Collaborate across departments including PEC/CCA, looming, plastics, and stores
* Ensure compliance with health & safety and ESD protocols
* Work across departments as needed (e.g., Looming, PEC/CCA Assembly, Microelectronics, Plastics, Manufacturing Controller/Stores)
Qualifications
* Proven experience in microelectronics or fine-pitch soldering
* Comfortable working under a microscope for extended periods
* Strong manual dexterity and attention to detail
* Ability to read and follow technical layouts and instructions
* IPC 610 certification (preferred)
* ESD training (essential)
* Basic PC and Microsoft Office skills
* Experience with crimping tools and small-scale assembly
* Experience utilizing a soldering iron and working with manufacturing micro-components
* Experience using a microscope/magnifying glass

* Security Clearance: British Citizen or a Dual UK national with British citizenship; restrictions may apply
* After offer stage, all successful candidates will undergo HMG Basic Personnel Security Standard checks (BPSS)
* Location: Bolton facility, a long-standing manufacturing site in the North West
* Schedule/Rate: Rate 18.46 - 26.12 hourly; IR35 (PAYE & Umbrella) options available
