Location: Newham Dockside, E16 2QU – Hybrid role. Salary: £46,133 – £57,194 (includes market supplement). Closing date: 31 March 2026.

Social Work in Newham is underpinned by a culture of Systemic and Restorative practice with high quality relationships at the heart of our approach. Our Children in Care teams provide statutory services to children who are in our care and their families and support networks.
Working as a Children in Care Social Worker at Newham provides a unique development opportunity as the service handles the majority of court work relating to care proceedings. You will be fully supported in this by senior colleagues, an Assistant Team Manager and Team Manager in each team, Practice Development Social Workers, a comprehensive CP Chair service and our Clinical Team of experienced qualified Family Therapists.
Responsibilities
* Provide support and care for children in care and their families through restorative and systemic practice.
* Deliver Circles of Support and build effective relationships with children, young people and families.
* Interpret statutory and national guidance to deliver high quality social work practice.
* Manage caseload including care proceedings, safeguards, welfare checks and housing support.
* Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and external agencies to promote wellbeing and safety.
* Maintain accurate, detailed and timely case records and produce professional reports.
* Contribute to service improvement, training and supervision processes.
About You
* UK‑registered Social Worker with SRN or equivalent registration.
* Completed your ASYE (or equivalent practice experience) and have experience working with children in care.
* Strong knowledge of statutory guidance and experience in a child‑care setting.
* Demonstrated commitment to relationship‑based, systemic, restorative practice.
* Excellent communication, advocacy and analytical skills.
* Ability to work autonomously, prioritise work and manage a demanding caseload.
* Commitment to continuous professional development and shared learning.
