Overview
:
A skilled and reliable Vehicle Technician is required to support the repair, servicing, and maintenance of a large fleet of vehicles and plant machinery. The role involves ensuring a high standard of workmanship while maintaining compliance with safety, quality, and legislative requirements. Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Carry out servicing, repairs, and maintenance on a wide variety of vehicles, including light commercial vehicles, HGVs, and plant equipment.
2. Diagnose faults using mechanical and electrical diagnostic tools.
3. Complete mechanical repairs, component replacements, and vehicle inspections.
4. Perform MOT-related work (if qualified).
5. Maintain accurate maintenance records and service documentation.
6. Support the upkeep of a fleet of approximately 500–600 vehicles and associated equipment.
7. Ensure work is completed to required safety and quality standards.
8. Work collaboratively to ensure the fleet remains operational and available.
9. Maintain a safe, clean, and compliant workshop environment.
Skills and Qualifications
10. Relevant and recognised mechanical/engineering qualifications (NVQ Level 3 or equivalent).
11. Strong experience in vehicle maintenance, diagnostics, and repair.
12. Ability to remove, refit, and repair mechanical components.
13. Confidence in using diagnostic equipment and workshop tools.
14. Full current driving licence.
Desirable:
15. Previous HGV technical experience
16. HGV/LGV licence
17. IRTEC certification
18. MOT tester’s certificate
