Job Description:

Residential Support Worker

Huge Small Victories

Our school support workers are fulfilled by the idea of making even the smallest positive changes in our young people, so we celebrate the little things. There are many ups and downs, and to some of our young people, sitting through a lesson can be a big win. We call these huge small victories, and while they may seem small, they add up to make a big difference.

Get out what you put in

You’ll work with children and young people with Autistic Spectrum Disorder/Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs. Your role will involve helping them learn, develop their abilities, and boost their self-esteem. Resilience and dedication are essential, but the huge small victories you achieve will be very rewarding.

It can be challenging, but the positive progress will be worth it. You’ll support our young people daily, ensuring they are prepared for school, assisting with homework, completing paperwork, and planning activities.

As a support worker at Witherslack Group, you’ll be part of a team that provides comprehensive support, including psychologists, teaching assistants, and therapy professionals. Our colleagues are highly skilled, resources are plentiful, and we’ll support your career development every step of the way.

One of the best environments in SEND

Oversands School is an independent specialist day school in Grange-over-Sands, providing high-quality education for pupils with complex learning needs, social and emotional difficulties, and challenging behaviors.

We know each pupil personally, understanding their story, how we can help, and how they can succeed. Our facilities include a dedicated lower school, a broad upper school curriculum, and vocational and post-16 programs led by experts.

What we do for you

We value your hard work and commitment. Our benefits include:

* Training: Full induction and on-the-job training
* Holiday: Full school holidays as rest periods
* Flexible benefits: Options to customize benefits like life insurance
* Wellbeing: Support tools and employee assistance programs
* Medical cover: Reimbursements for opticians, dentists, and discounts
* Facilities: Well-equipped, attractive working environments
* Pension: Contributory scheme with up to 5% matching
* Referral bonus: £1,000 for each successful recommendation

Bring your whole-self to work

Our diverse workforce reflects the backgrounds of our pupils. To connect with them, you should have:

* Your ‘can do’ attitude and teamwork skills
* Willingness to study for a Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (if not already qualified)
* Honesty and empathy
* Ability to build strong relationships with young people
* Resilience to handle challenging situations
* A full UK driving license

Interested in joining us?

Our young people deserve the best, and so do our teams. We offer a meaningful career in a purpose-led environment where you can be yourself.

The Witherslack Group is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people. This position is subject to an enhanced DBS check (cost covered) and online searches. We are an equal opportunities employer welcoming all applications.
