Job Role: Lorry Driver
You will drive a lorry from our exceptional fleet of Volvo vehicles, all less than 4 years old. They’re a joy to drive, and are equipped to a high specification, including fridges, leather seats, and many optional extras to ensure your comfort.
Most of our sites operate from Monday to Friday, with 45-hour working weeks and 9-hour shifts starting typically at 5 or 6 pm. Our well-organised shift schedules often allow you to know your driving locations in advance, reducing daily stress.
This role offers job security within a growing, global business. We operate a busy fleet, ensuring consistent work. Additional hours are available, with enhanced pay rates for bank holidays. You'll join a friendly team—our drivers often stay with us for many years because we treat them well. We support each other, including sharing traffic updates via WhatsApp.
Key Responsibilities
1. We trust our drivers to plan their routes without micromanagement.
2. This job involves trunking to regional hubs during night shifts.
3. If you enjoy long stretches on the open road and prefer to be home after each 9-hour shift, this role suits you.
4. You will ensure Cages, Pallets, Freight, Stillages, and Yorks reach customers on time.
5. Loading or unloading at sites may be your responsibility, along with scanning consignments and driving pallet trucks.
6. Inspect your vehicle and trailer daily, completing a Defect Report if needed.
7. Maintain high standards to ensure 'right first time' deliveries and keep customers satisfied. Communicate effectively and pass on unresolved queries to your site manager promptly.
Candidate Requirements
* Class 1 Driving Licence
* Completed required DCPC training hours or working towards them
* Excellent knowledge of Road Transport Laws and a commitment to road safety
* A positive, 'can do' attitude
