We are currently recruiting for an experienced Social Worker to join Austen House, a 14-bedded Psychiatric Intensive Care and Low Secure unit for young people aged 12-18. The unit sits alongside well-established Medium Secure, and General Adolescent Units at Bluebird House and Serenity Path Hospital.
The post offers an exciting opportunity to provide high quality social work input, as well as being part of a multi-disciplinary team dedicated to delivering clinically effective, person-centred care. You will play a core role in undertaking comprehensive assessments of the social care, mental health and risk management needs of children and young people, their family and their carers. Our model of care focuses on attachment informed and trauma informed approaches and this role would especially suit those with skills and/or enthusiasm for these approaches.
Main duties of the job
* Provide a social work service to the children/young people (age 12-18 years) and their families at Austen House.
* Manage a caseload of highly complex cases.
* Provide advice and guidance to other staff within the organisation and external agencies.
* Participate in staff/student training and development.
* Work in partnership with patients, carers, relatives and community agencies to identify current and future service requirements and contribute to service development within the scope of the role.
* As a core member of the multi-disciplinary team undertake comprehensive assessments of the social care, mental health and risk management needs of children and young people, their families and carers.
* As a core member of the multi-disciplinary team facilitate safe and appropriate discharge pathways for the children/young people by co‑ordinating the discharge process.
* Work collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary team and Corporate Safeguarding Team to respond to and manage Safeguarding Concerns within the unit.

Qualifications
* Social Work qualification such as Diploma or Degree in Social Work
* Professional registration with Social Work England.
* Meeting the standards set out by Social Work England
