GSL Education is looking to appoint a dedicated and resilient Science Teacher for a highly regarded Alternative Provision setting in the Hulll, starting from Septemeber 2025. The position is full-time.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a Science Teacher who is passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and those who have struggled to access education in mainstream settings.

The Setting:
* A supportive and nurturing Alternative Provision that provides specialist education for pupils aged 11–16 with SEMH and complex behavioural needs.
* Small class sizes, high staff-to-student ratios, and a trauma-informed approach are embedded in the school culture.
* Staff work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to support pupils’ emotional regulation, academic progress, and personal development.
* Students follow a personalised and practical curriculum aimed at re-engaging them with learning, improving self-esteem, and preparing them for positive next steps.

Key Responsibilities:
* Deliver engaging and adaptive Science lessons across Key Stage 3 and 4 (Biology, Chemistry, and Physics), modified to meet individual needs.
* Plan, assess, and differentiate lessons for students with a wide range of abilities, including those with EHCPs and SEND.
* Implement positive behaviour strategies and build strong, respectful relationships with students.
* Collaborate closely with support staff, SENCOs, and pastoral teams to develop and deliver individual learning plans.
* Participate in whole-school CPD, behaviour support planning, and enrichment activities to contribute to the wider life of the setting.

Candidate Requirements:
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or QTLS, with a relevant Science degree.
* Recent experience teaching Science at Key Stage 3 and 4 – experience in an AP, PRU, or SEMH setting is highly desirable.
* Strong classroom management and a nurturing approach to building trust with students.
* Two professional references within the last two years (placements will be accepted for ECTs).
* Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply for one through GSL Education.
