This is an opportunity to work at the heart of the regulator of one of the country's most vital sectors. Supporting our Chief Executive, you will be at the centre of the action in overseeing England & Wales' charity sector.

You will be highly motivated and organised to provide high-quality support to the Chief Executive in a fast paced environment. You will facilitate their relationship building, ensuring effective delivery and handling of all correspondence, briefings and documents and ensuring their diary supports the delivery of the Charity Commissions key objectives and performance indicators.

Travel to London will be required as part of this role.


Job description


The main things that you would be doing are:

* Facilitate the day-to-day needs of the Chief Executive by providing high-quality, proactive support, including managing a busy and constantly changing diary, resolving conflicts as they arise and ensuring their time is managed effectively.
* Ensuring the CEO is well prepared for all meetings and events, including liaising with different areas of the business and senior managers to obtain information and briefings for the CEO in advance of meetings, seminars, presentations and speaking engagements.
* Liaising directly with internal and external senior stakeholders to deal with enquiries and to co-ordinate appointments and engagements.
* Monitoring actions and activity and holding others to account on behalf of the CEO for their completion, influencing and negotiating as required to meet deadlines as set.
* Organise the logistics and hospitality arrangements for the Chief Executive's meetings including meeting and greeting visitors and arranging refreshments.

The key skills and experience that you must have are:

Ability:

* Proactive self-starter who has a flexible, solutions focused approach
* Ability to build effective working relationships across teams, across roles and across diverse stakeholders
* Ability to plan and prioritise competing demands to ensure deadlines are met and outcomes are successfully achieved
* Able to think ahead and anticipate issues

Experience:

* Delivering a good customer service
* Experience and expertise in charity, public sector or similar governance and interface
* Supporting a Chair /CEO/ Director or other senior staff
* Operating within a team to deliver high level of service providing responsive and flexible cover

Technical:

* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Good IT literacy, including Microsoft Office 365 (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), electronic document management systems and case management systems
* Handling sensitive and confidential data and information in accordance with the business procedures and/or law

Selection process details


This vacancy is using Success Profiles, and will assess your Behaviours and Experience.

Interview Arrangements

Interviews will be taking place Face to Face in our Liverpool office.

The sift is due to take place on the week commencing 22nd September 2025.

Interviews will be held on Friday 3rd October.

We will try to meet the dates set out in the advert. There may be occasions when these dates change. You will be provided with sufficient notice of the confirmed dates.

At the interview, the panel can then probe further and ask applicants to provide further specific examples that show how they best demonstrate their skills.
