Operational Accounts Assistant (12 month maternity Cover – Fixed Term)

The Role
We are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Accounts Assistant to join our operational accounts team on a maternity cover basis.
In this role, you will help ensure the smooth running of day-to-day financial operations, including processing payments, managing invoices, and reconciling client accounts. This is a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced and collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities of the Operational Accounts Assistant
1. Manage daily and monthly finance tasks and workflows
2. Process GBP and foreign payments, resolving any queries or compliance issues
3. Perform daily, weekly, and monthly bank and float reconciliations, investigating discrepancies
4. Process purchase invoices from suppliers in a timely manner
5. Raise and process ad hoc sales invoices
6. Process timesheets and expenses for doctors and nurses
7. Send sales invoices and payment remittances to clients and providers
8. Complete month-end and other ad hoc finance tasks
9. Respond to internal and external queries via email and phone
10. Prepare and investigate weekly and monthly reports for stakeholders
11. Maintain high standards of accuracy, professionalism, and confidentiality
What we are looking for in the Operational Accounts Assistant
12. GCSE Maths and English (Grade A–C or equivalent) – Essential
13. Accountancy qualification (or studying towards one) – Desirable
14. Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
15. Excellent written and verbal communication skills
16. Confident and professional telephone manner
17. At least 1 year’s experience in an accounting or finance environment
18. High level of attention to detail and accuracy
19. Able to manage workload independently and as part of a team
20. Flexible and able to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
21. Trustworthy, discreet, and able to handle confidential information
