St Martin of Tours HA are pleased to be recruiting to the role of Independent Non-Executive Director – Chair of the Board.
St Martin of Tours Housing Association is a regulated Registered Provider providing supported accommodation and mental health care services in London. It supports adults with complex mental health needs to improve wellbeing, build independence and live fulfilling lives within the community.
Our organisation is committed to sustainable growth and diversification, backed by both traditional and institutional investment. We hold the Investors in People Silver Standard and strong CQC ratings, highlighting our dedication to quality and improvement. The Board recently approved a strategic plan for business diversification, enabling entry into permanent accommodation.
Role
The Chair of the Board provides non‑executive strategic leadership to the Board, ensuring effective governance, clarity of purpose, and alignment with the association’s mission and values. The Chair works closely with the Chief Executive (or equivalent senior lead) to ensure that the Board sets strategic direction, fulfils its legal and regulatory responsibilities, and receives appropriate assurance that these responsibilities are being met, while remaining appropriately removed from day‑to‑day operations.
We are seeking a Chair who is passionate about our mission as a diverse mental health supported housing association. Our work is rooted in compassion and ambition — supporting people with complex needs to build independence, confidence, and meaningful lives within their communities.
Key Responsibilities
* Chair and actively participate in Board meetings.
* Provide strategic direction and oversight.
* Collaborate with other board members and senior management.
* Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
* Advocate for the organisation’s mission and values.

Compensation
£5,300 per annum

* An experienced Board member or senior leader who understands the role of good governance and non-executive oversight.
* Someone who brings strategic insight and experience in either mental health, wellbeing or care-based services or digital, IT, data governance or technology-enabled change.
* A confident, inclusive Chair who can lead effective meetings, build consensus, and provide constructive challenge.
* A person of integrity with sound judgement, able to balance opportunity, risk, and assurance.
* Someone who shares our values and is motivated by the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in people’s lives.

* Outstanding communication skills, with the ability to convey information clearly, concisely and effectively to colleagues, Board members and stakeholders.
