Overview

Static Mechanical & Electrical Engineer role at EQUANS UK & Ireland on the HMCTS contract at Liverpool Crown Court. This is a permanent full-time position (40 hours per week) with a competitive salary and benefits package.


Responsibilities

* The primary purpose is to carry out both planned and reactive maintenance on Mechanical Building Services Engineering Assets, ensuring activities are safe, timely, and in line with contracted outputs, EQUANS processes and procedures (including Legionella control and monitoring).
* Carry out routine PPM on electrical infrastructure and plant in accordance with site task schedules and CAFM.
* Complete reactive tasks, identify improvements, and ensure plant faults/defects are remedied to keep plant in serviceable order.
* Ensure suitable spares are available; provide parts lists and estimated timescales for remedial works.
* Complete all relevant paperwork/CAFM for PPM, reactive and breakdown works and forward promptly to the contract administrator.
* Prepare and use Method Statements and Risk Assessments for all tasks to ensure safe working practices.
* Develop good working relationships with Equans staff, subcontractors, and client representatives.
* Provide a Safe and Healthy working environment; wear uniform and PPE at all times.
* Maintain a professional image of Equans when interacting with clients.
* Keep up-to-date plant logs and maintain clean and tidy plant rooms under Equans responsibility.
* Supervise and monitor subcontractors on site during maintenance.
* Arrange and provide holiday and sickness cover at short notice; be flexible with working patterns; undertake lone working as required after training.
* Action assigned tasks and maintain awareness/compliance with contractual KPIs/SLA’s.
* Keep CAFM systems (e.g., Total Mobile) up to date; close out PPM and reactive tickets with accurate data.
* Operate a Permit to Work System in line with Equans' Technical and SHEQ processes and client requirements (or approved client system).
* Undertake other tasks as directed by the account management team.
* Provide engineering support in emergency situations to ensure business and operational continuity.


Client / Customer

* Respond promptly to verbal and written requests.
* Coordinate quotations with the contract manager; produce information for quotations.


Helpdesk - PPM

* Support the Helpdesk with planning and updating maintenance, and be available for out-of-hours call-out support for the contract.


Compliance

* Gaining Technical Appointments (e.g., LVCP/Low/High Risk Pressure AP) and issuing PTW and Isolation Certificates to Subcontractors and EQUANS staff.
* Compliance with the Written Scheme of Examination (PSSR) where detailed within Contract; produce Condition/Dilapidation Reports as required.
* Inform supervisor immediately if dangerous circumstances occur.


SHEQ

* Comply with requests from the SHEQ manager; work to company health and safety policy.
* Ensure PPE is safe to use; report accidents and near misses promptly.
* Ensure test equipment is calibrated; follow Method Statements & Risk Assessments for all works.


Impact

We require a fully reliable and competent Mechanical Technician who can work on their own initiative, within a team, or oversee subcontractors, producing high-quality reports. The role involves representing Equans and communicating findings with clients where needed.


Qualifications & Experience

* Ability to fault-find, diagnose, and rectify complex Mechanical faults unaided.
* Excellent knowledge of Mechanical systems and components.
* Ability to plan and oversee mechanical plant isolation and shutdowns for maintenance, inspection, or remedial works.
