Job Summary
The Deputy Practice Manager will play a key role in supporting the Practice Manager in the strategic and operational leadership of the practice. They will assist in the planning, coordination, and delivery of efficient services while ensuring the highest standards of patient care, compliance, and staff engagement. The post holder will contribute to the long-term development and continuous improvement of the practice, supporting innovation and change management initiatives. They will also deputise for the Practice Manager when required.
Key Responsibilities Strategic & Operational Management
* Support the Practice Manager in delivering the practice's strategic objectives and business plan.
* Contribute to the development and implementation of policies and projects aimed at service improvement and patient experience.
* Assist in the preparation of strategic documents including annual reports, business continuity plans, and workforce development strategies.
* Participate in meetings with external stakeholders, including PCNs, ICBs, and commissioners, to represent the practice's interests.
* Monitor performance against strategic targets such as QOF, IIF, enhanced services, and CQC compliance.
* Deputise for the Practice Manager in their absence, ensuring continuity of leadership and decision-making.
Human Resources & Workforce Planning
* Support recruitment, onboarding, and workforce development in alignment with strategic staffing plans.
* Assist in developing staff training programmes, appraisals, and succession planning to build team capability.
* Lead by example in promoting a positive, inclusive, and supportive working culture.
Finance & Business Development
* Assist with financial planning, forecasting, and monitoring budgets to support strategic decision-making.
* Identify opportunities for income generation through enhanced services, private work, and efficiencies.
* Contribute to funding applications, audits, and tenders that support the practice's growth and sustainability.
Compliance & Quality Assurance
* Support preparation for regulatory inspections (e.g., CQC), ensuring policies and procedures are up to date and embedded.
* Monitor quality indicators and patient outcomes to help shape continuous improvement plans.
* Maintain robust systems for risk management, clinical governance, and health and safety.
Digital & IT Strategy
* Support the development of a digital strategy to improve access, efficiency, and data quality.
* Oversee the use and development of clinical systems and digital tools, and promote innovation where appropriate.
* Lead or support digital transformation initiatives in line with NHS priorities.
Patient Experience & Community Engagement
* Contribute to strategic plans that improve patient engagement and access to services.
* Help manage patient feedback, complaints, and surveys to inform service development.
* Promote health initiatives and collaborate with local community and PCN programmes.
Person Specification Essential
* Experience in healthcare or practice management at a senior administrative or operational level.
* Demonstrated leadership skills with ability to contribute to strategic planning and implementation.
* Strong organisational, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
* Proficiency in IT systems, digital tools, and data analysis.
* Knowledge of NHS frameworks, regulatory compliance, and clinical governance.
Desirable
* Previous experience in a GP practice or primary care network (PCN).
* Knowledge of QOF, CQC, ICB structures, and NHS operational targets.
* Qualification in management, leadership, or HR.
* Experience in project or change management.

Pay: £36,000.00-£43,000.00 per year
