An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and dynamic registered nurse to join our cardiology specialist nursing team. The successful candidate will work closely with our cardiologists and a team of existing cardiac nurse practitioners to support nurse led rapid access chest pain clinics, the elective cardioversion service, the post MI service and to assist in the further development of our heart failure service.
Excellent communication and good teamworking skills must be demonstrated both within the application and in interview. The candidate must have the knowledge and ability to work independently, acting as a positive role model, and be instrumental in ensuring that high standards of care are delivered. Extensive cardiology knowledge and experience is essential with a willingness to undertake the ALS course. The candidate must also be educated to or working towards degree level, showing evidence of on-going professional development. We will also consider supporting the candidate to complete non-medical prescribing once the post-holder has experience/competency.

Main duties of the job
This is a nurse specialist role with the responsibility for the assessment of care needs, the development, implementation and evaluation of programmed care.
Support medical and nursing staff in order to aid achievement of NICE Quality standards
Work in conjunction with wards and department teams and support the provision of a service that meets the needs of patients and their carers
Promote clinical excellent through his/her practice within the established services.
Provide specialist support and Health Education advice within the specialist fields to patients and carers.
Work closely alongside the multidisciplinary teams, developing, planning, assessing of care in clinics, wards and other clinical arrears. Providing specialist support, advice and information to patients and carers.
In conjunction with the CNS and lead Clinician, support the effective management of CHD clinics, Heart failure / Rapid Access clinics within agreed protocols
Perform non-medical independent prescribing in accordance with local and NMC policy, guidance and training, liaising closely with the medical team and pharmacy department. To be registered on the Trusts approved register held by the deputy chief nurse. Ensuring antimicrobial policy is adhered to.
Support the ward staff with pre discharge advice where required. Ensure accurate information is provided to appropriate services involved in the patients continuing care
