Overview
We are seeking a pragmatic and commercially minded Employment Solicitor or CILEX-qualified Lawyer to join our Home LEI team. The successful candidate will provide legal advice on employment law issues to internal stakeholders as well as directly to corporate clients and policyholders, particularly those covered under legal expenses or employment related products.
Responsibilities
* Manage any employment law cases /disputes upon which the firm may be instructed
* Manage and handle internal employment disputes – litigated and non-litigated – that may arise
* Participate in and provide support to an employment law legal helpline, providing advice and guidance to clients as required
* Ensure understanding and compliance with internal SLAs, policies and procedures
* Review employment policies/practices across the firm and implement changes as needed
* Provide full supervisory support and guidance on technical issues involving matters of employment law
* Ensure IT developments are appropriately implemented
* Provide employment law training across the firm as required
* Deliver excellent customer service, proactively managing client expectations and progressing employment law cases
* Highlight potential risks to senior management
* Review and analyse employment law MI and provide reports as necessary
* Identify and provide training needs across the firm
* Keep up to date with industry changes including case law and legislation, providing advice and guidance
* Liaise with Senior Management and HR regarding staff issues
Experience and Knowledge
* Qualified Solicitor, Member/Fellow of CILEX or an experienced Lawyer with employment law experience
* Ability to compile and analyse data and act according to results
* Commercially minded with ability to optimise outcomes in cases for both client and firm
* Competent with a case management system and good knowledge of MS Office
* High standard of quality of work, strong organisational skills and attention to detail
* Experience presenting data to an audience in a straightforward way
* Strong communication skills and ability to lead by example; confident to challenge practices and offer solutions
* Self-motivated with initiative in problem-solving
* Resilient in a fast-paced, changing environment while achieving objectives and motivating the team
* Willingness to develop and stretch themselves and the team and add value to the firm
