About The Role Are you an experienced marine surveyor looking to step into a role with more leadership and variety? We’re looking for a Senior Marine Surveyor to join APEM’s Marine BioLabs & Surveys Division — a team recognised for delivering benchmark-quality data and insight across all aquatic habitats, from estuaries to offshore environments. In this role, you’ll combine technical expertise with team leadership and project delivery. You’ll lead field surveys, manage project budgets and client relationships, and help train and mentor the next generation of marine scientists. You’ll also contribute to developing our marine survey services, supporting multi-disciplinary projects across the UK, Europe and Australia. To be successful in this role, you’ll need: A degree in a relevant marine or environmental discipline 5 years’ experience in the commercial marine survey sector Strong project management skills and a solid understanding of offshore survey H&S Experience leading complex marine survey projects from design to reporting Confidence using DDV and geophysical data interpretation tools, plus GIS proficiency Willingness to work offshore (up to 120 days per year) Valid UK driving licence It’s a real plus if you have: Current offshore survey and medical certifications Experience with marine mammal observation or passive acoustic monitoring Background in global environmental surveys Hands-on experience with marine survey equipment setup, calibration and troubleshooting Macrobenthic sample or DDV analysis experience Knowledge of UK marine consenting processes, or equivalent frameworks internationally Category BE towing licence At APEM, you’ll be part of a collaborative, people-first consultancy that combines deep technical expertise with a genuine passion for the marine environment.
