A full-time, permanent opportunity has become available at our Barnsley site for a Hygiene Team Manager to join the team. You will be the leader of a multidisciplinary hygiene team to deliver all aspects of output to standard departmental and people metrics.
The successful candidate will:
* Lead the Hygiene Team - oversee hygiene tasks, checks, and waste removal.
* Ensure compliance with quality, safety, and hygiene standards across our bakery. Develop and refine SOPs and master cleaning schedules to ensure safe food delivery in line with regulatory, customer, and best practice standards. Coordinate external audits and sign off on corrective actions to maintain regulatory and customer authorizations.
* Conduct Hygiene audits, investigate micro trends, and identify process improvements and effective communication strategies.
* Follow all Health, Safety, and Environmental procedures, promote a safety culture, escalate incidents appropriately, and understand fire evacuation procedures.
* Foster a food safety and quality culture through engagement and continuous improvement to ensure product safety, authenticity, legality, and quality.
* Manage line performance to meet targets, lead during changeovers, and ensure effective handovers. Understand OEE, waste productivity, DWOR, plant labor, BobJ, and SAP stock sheets.
* Identify opportunities for performance improvement, waste elimination, and process enhancement. Lead DMAIC & Practice projects.
* Manage resource planning, including scheduling holidays and overtime, liaising with Labour controllers to meet planning requirements.
* Handle personnel matters promptly, including absence management, misconduct, grievances, and talent development in collaboration with HR.
What we need from you:
* COSHH Qualification
* Qualification in Food Science, Quality, Hygiene, or relevant field
* Basic GCSE or equivalent
* Experience in food manufacturing
* Ability to work under pressure and respond to short-term demands
* Good teamworking skills and experience working across disciplines
