Responsibilities
* Provide effective managerial leadership to support and motivate staff through effective communication.
* Support and liaise with the Resilience Team and Department Managers when undertaking and supporting coordinated risk assessments/audits.
* Complete risk assessments and ensure they are added to the Directorate Risk Register.
* Assist the Portering Services Manager with appraisals, identifying areas for personal and professional improvement and development.
* Assist in the day‑to‑day planning and organisation of Portering service areas, delegating tasks as appropriate.
* Ensure all documentation is written and electronically recorded in accordance with Trust policies and procedures.
* Liaise with other service managers and supervisors when necessary to assist with the planning and organisation of ward/dept opening.
* Manage staff sickness/absence, grievance and disciplinary processes.
* Assist in maintaining the service vehicles in accordance with Transport regulations.
Essential Qualifications
* Educated to GCSE standard or equivalent.
* Computer literate with knowledge of Microsoft packages such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Teams.
Desirable Criteria
* Health & Safety related qualification or evidence of practical application of health & safety in the workplace.
* Previous experience of leadership within a large workforce.
* Previous experience of interacting with and dealing with patients and members of the public.
* Previous first‑line leadership experience.
* Organisational management skills (ability to time manage etc).
* Knowledge of risk assessment process.
* Basic health & safety knowledge.
* Knowledge of Trust risk / HR policies and procedures.
* Portering management/supervisory experience.
