The Role
Working within a busy toolroom environment, you will support plastic injection mould tooling to ensure production runs efficiently and downtime is minimised. This is a hands-on role where you will work both independently and as part of a close-knit team, often to tight deadlines.
You will be responsible for servicing, maintaining, repairing and improving injection mould tools, ensuring they operate to optimal performance standards.
Key Responsibilities
1. Service and maintain injection mould tools in line with TPM schedules
2. Diagnose and repair mould tool breakdowns
3. Support production teams with on-press tool repairs and maintenance
4. Carry out minor modifications and continuous improvements to tooling
5. Ensure all work is completed safely and in line with health & safety standards
6. Maintain accurate records and documentation
The Person
7. Time served apprentice Toolmaker with ONC/HNC in Mechanical Engineering (or similar)
OR
Minimum 5 years' hands-on experience in plastic injection mould tooling
8. Strong bench hand skills
9. Competent in milling, turning and grinding
10. Experience fault finding on mechanical, hydraulic and water systems
11. Able to work independently and manage time effectively
12. Comfortable using computer systems for record keeping
Desirable Skills
13. Knowledge of hot runner systems
14. Tool polishing experience
15. Laser / MIG / TIG welding
16. Overhead gantry crane certification
17. Safe tool handling experience
