Job overview

An opportunity has arisen for a motivated individual to join Ward 36 as a Clinical Support Worker.

We are a fast paced, orthopaedic ward and are looking for enthusiastic and hardworking staff member to join our fantastic team.

No past experience required as the successful applicant will be provided with training in line with hospital trust policies and procedures and will be supported by staff.


Main duties of the job

To work alongside the nursing staff and other Clinical Support workers to provide personal care and holistic care and treatment to patients.

To work closely with nursing staff, escalating any change in patient condition.

To document any care provided and perform clinical observations.

To maintain high standards of cleanliness and organisation in the ward environment.


Working for our organisation

We operate from three main hospitals‑Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.

FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant‑led services.

WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non‑life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.

All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, daycase and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.

Person specification


Education and qualifications

* Completion of the NHS Care Certificate or equivalent relevant experience to vocational qualification level 3 or willing to complete the care certificate within the first 3 months of employment


Experience

* Knowledge of care and related procedures.
* Experience with manual handling of patients, using lifting aids
* Experience of completing patient care records
* Experience and involvement of an improvement project/s
* Experience of holding an area of responsibility relating to training/audit
