Our target customers are small UK accounting practices. We’re early stage, moving fast, and building the product now.
The Role
We’re looking for a Product Manager who understands the day-to-day reality of accounting practices and can translate that into a product that actually works for firms and their clients. You’ll own the product roadmap, define workflows, write requirements, and work directly with our engineering team and AI tool directly including Claude and Lovable to ship features quickly.
This is a hands-on role. You’ll be talking to accountants, mapping out their current processes, identifying where our product can save them the most time, and making sure what we build mirrors how real accounting work gets done — just faster.
What You’ll Do
• Audit the existing product against real accounting workflows and identify feature gaps, UX issues, and incorrect assumptions.
• Run customer discovery — talk to accounting firms and their end clients to understand pain points, validate what we’ve built, and uncover what’s missing.
• Own the product roadmap and prioritise improvements based on user feedback and business impact.
• Map out end-to-end accounting workflows (annual accounts, VAT returns, bookkeeping) and ensure the product mirrors how the work actually gets done.
• Write clear, detailed requirements and user stories for the engineering team.
• Define and refine conversation flows and user journeys, making sure the experience feels natural to non-technical business owners.
• Work with the founder to shape AI behaviour and prompt strategies for different accounting tasks.
• QA features before release, particularly around accuracy and conversation quality.
• Help plan and support onboarding of our first paying accounting firm clients.
What We’re Looking For
• 2–5 years of product management or related experience in accounting software, practice management tools, or fintech products serving accountants.
• Solid understanding of UK accounting practice workflows: how firms interact with clients, what documents get exchanged, and where bottlenecks typically occur (e.g. year-end accounts, VAT, bookkeeping cycles).
• Familiarity with accounting tools such as Xero, QuickBooks, Sage, or similar — ideally from a product or operations perspective rather than just as an end user.
• Comfort with AI tooling: you’ve used tools like Claude, ChatGPT, or Cursor/Claude Code in your own workflow and can pick up new AI-assisted development tools quickly.
• Strong communication skills: you can write clear specs, run customer calls, and work closely with developers without needing layers of process.
• Startup mindset: you’re comfortable with ambiguity, can make decisions with incomplete information, and move fast without sacrificing quality.
Nice to Have
• Experience with WhatsApp Business API or conversational product design.
• Familiarity with Supabase, Lovable, or similar rapid-build tools.
• Experience with Claude Code or similar AI-assisted coding workflows.
• Understanding of UK tax and compliance basics (FRS 102/105, Companies House filings, MTD).
• Experience onboarding SME customers onto SaaS products.
