Somerset NHS Foundation Trust is looking to appoint 2 permanent, full-time, Consultant Radiologists.

The directorate seeks candidates to provide General Radiology services mainly based at Yeovil District Hospital, including plain film reporting, screening, and cross-sectional imaging with CT, MRI, and Ultrasound.

The job plan is based on a 10 PA contract with 8.5 clinical PAs (including 1 PA for on-call) and 1.5 PAs for supporting professional activities.

The working day runs from 0900 to 1700, divided into two 4-hour sessions. The schedule is flexible, with DCC varying between MDT cover, acute, and outpatient reporting sessions.

You will participate in the cross-sectional radiology out-of-hours service, currently on a 1 in 14 rota. There is a separate interventional on-call rota staffed by interventional radiologists.

Applicants must have MBBS and FRCR or equivalent, hold full GMC registration with a license to practice, and be on the Specialty Register.

Main duties of the job

The Yeovil Radiology department offers a wide range of imaging services, including CT, MRI, screening, ultrasound, plain film, and non-vascular intervention.

The weekday on-call involves reporting from 17:30 to 20:00, managed by the on-call cross-sectional radiologist, covering inpatient CT, urgent ultrasound, and MRI scans. After 20:00 on weekdays and 17:00 at weekends, outsourcing covers overnight CT/MRI scans, but the radiologist remains available for IT issues or major incidents.
