Job Title: Speech and Language Therapist
Location: Underley Gardens School, Kirkby Lonsdale, Lancashire LA6 2DZ
Salary: Up to £53,200 pro rata (dependent on experience). Basic grade SALT offers from £33,000+, Specialist from £39,500+; Highly specialist from £48,000+.
Hours: 24 hours per week, 3 days 8.30am – 4.30pm
Contract: Permanent (Term time only, or flexibility around full-time contract can be discussed based on your personal circumstances)

Role overview
We are looking for a Speech and Language Therapist to join our in-house clinical team at Underley Gardens School. Working with the education team, you will deliver bespoke Speech and Language Therapy assessment and intervention to pupils who may have experienced developmental trauma, be neurodivergent, or have SEMH needs. You will operate within the OFG Speech and Language Therapy Ways of Working, hold a caseload with support from your clinical supervisor and site lead, and contribute to staff training and consultation. Location: Underley Gardens School, Kirkby Lonsdale – part of the Options Autism brand, an independent specialist day school supporting children and young people aged 5–19.
Responsibilities
* Deliver bespoke Speech and Language Therapy assessment and intervention for pupils with developmental trauma, neurodivergence or SEMH needs.
* Work collaboratively with education teams and adhere to the OFG Speech and Language Therapy Ways of Working.
* Hold a Speech and Language Therapy caseload with support from a designated clinical supervisor and site lead.
* Contribute to staff training and consultation as required.
* Maintain a person-centred, safeguarding-conscious approach across settings.
Essential Criteria
* Undergraduate or Postgraduate degree in Speech and Language Therapy
* HCPC registered
* 1–2 years of experience as a fully registered RCSLT member in a similar setting
* Experience engaging with individuals with complex and diverse communication profiles
* Knowledge of neurodiversity and trauma-informed practice
* Experience of multidisciplinary working in various settings
* Experience communicating with/working with families and carers
* Interest in developing knowledge across different SaLT practice areas
* Strong relationship-building, analytical and judgmental skills
* Excellent oral and written communication skills
* Good time management and organisational skills
* Competence in core SaLT practice and understanding of RCSLT communication standards
* Knowledge of SaLT assessment tools, intervention types, and ability to formulate support plans
* Understanding of relevant legislation for clinical practice and client groups
* Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
* Willingness to engage in training and pursue further qualifications relevant to the client group
Desirable
* Understanding of sensory and motor differences impacting communication
* Understanding of the relationship between arousal levels and communication
* Full driving licence and access to a car (highly desirable)
