A skilled technician with a Theatre background is required to support the delivery of Level 2 and Level 3 BTEC qualifications in a dynamic and successful specialist performing arts department.

The successful person will be working with a team in supporting students and staff to ensure the smooth running of the music and performing arts facility, providing a range of support in a technical, practical and advisory capacity. The post holder will have a shared responsibility for maintaining and safely operating the working areas of the music and performing arts department (Theatre, Music Rehearsal Spaces, Dance Studios), running workshops and demonstrating specialist lighting and sound equipment to students. As theatre technician, you will also be part of a team delivering the lighting and sound for shows as well as on occasion, for wider college events.

We are looking for applicants who have the commitment and motivation to work in our centre of excellence in performing arts with the following skills: theatre lighting and sound for high profile performing arts and music shows; audio production and editing (experience of Logic Pro x would be advantageous), upkeep and repair of equipment including musical instruments, general upkeep of the performing arts spaces.

This is a vital role in the development of the College and the quality of services we provide. The post holder will be part of a friendly, supportive and knowledgeable team and will be line managed by the Head of Department.

The College is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Employees will, in accordance with statutory guidance, be subject to a comprehensive checking process including references from current and previous employers, health, right to work in the UK, an enhanced DBS check and a further check against the appropriate barred list. To comply with legislation, you are required to obtain a DBS check for your role. We will be asking Protocol National Ltd/Esafeguarding Ltd to undertake this process on our behalf.
