Role Responsibility Kent County Council are seeking an experienced Payments Team Manager to lead our Accounts Payable and Children’s Payment functions within the Exchequer Services. This is a critical leadership role in a high-volume, customer facing, fast-paced environment, requiring someone who thrives under pressure and can deliver exceptional results while maintaining accuracy and compliance. The primary location for this role is Sessions House, although currently involves working from home with some office working as required at Maidstone. This highly important role involves managing the day-to-day delivery of the services provided by the payment teams. The post holder will be required to ensure best use of resources and application of best practice to meet deadlines and provide excellent customer service. Key Responsibilities - Lead and manage the Payment Teams, ensuring high standards of performance, accuracy, and customer service. - Oversee daily operations, ensuring timely and compliant processing of transactions. - Monitor and improve processes, driving continuous improvement and efficiency. - Provide expert advice on finance administration, policies, and systems. - Manage workload allocation and prioritisation to meet strict deadlines. - Develop and motivate team members through regular 1:1s, training, and coaching. - Produce accurate data analysis and reporting to inform decision-making and performance monitoring. - Ensure strict adherence to financial regulations, policies, and procedures at all time About You: We’re looking for someone with: - Proven experience in a finance or payments management role, ideally within a large organisation. - Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop a team. - Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage high workloads under pressure. - Advanced knowledge of finance systems (Oracle or similar) and MS Office applications. - A proactive approach to problem-solving and process improvement. - Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to data integrity. - Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and present data effectively. - Comprehensive understanding of financial regulations and governance requirements.
