Multi-skilled Operative

Location: Ipswich

Contract: Field-based, Full-Time, Permanent Role

Salary up to £35,278.74 per annum, plus, company van & fuel card

42.5 hours per week (8-5 Monday- Friday)

We are seeking a dedicated Multi Skilled Operative to join our established team focused on treating and identifying damp and mould issues within our clients' housing stock. This role is central to ensuring our properties are maintained to the highest standards, ensuring both the health and safety of residents and the long-term integrity of the buildings.

This is a dynamic, hands-on role where you’ll be responsible for delivering high-quality repairs and maintenance across a range of trades, ensuring residents’ homes are safe, functional, and well cared for.

You’ll be working across occupied properties, responding to day-to-day repair requests that cover carpentry, plumbing, plastering, tiling, and more. No two days are the same, and your ability to adapt, problem-solve, and deliver excellent customer service will be key to your success.

Duties:

1. Identify and treat damp and mould issues within residential properties.
2. Carry out mould remediation work, including surface cleaning, mould treatment application, and ensuring the treated areas are safe and effective.
3. Undertake internal painting and decorating tasks, focusing on areas affected by mould or damp, ensuring a high-quality finish.
4. Perform plastering and tiling work, including mastic sealant application to baths and wet room fixtures.
5. Carry out day-to-day responsive repairs across social housing properties
6. Replacing or repairing skirting boards, architraves, and internal door frames
7. Installing and adjusting kitchen units, worktops, and cupboard doors
8. Repairing or replacing internal doors, handles, locks, and hinges
9. Identifying and fixing minor plumbing issues such as leaks, dripping taps, and blocked sinks
10. Carrying out patch plastering and making good, damaged walls or ceilings
11. Completing wall and floor tiling repairs, including grouting and sealing
12. Painting and decorating to a professional finish following repair works
13. Ensuring all repairs are completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard
14. Working in occupied properties with sensitivity to residents’ needs and privacy
15. Participating in out-of-hours emergency repair rota as required
16. Reporting any further works, safeguarding concerns, or property issues beyond scope
17. Deliver excellent customer service while working in residents' homes
18. Accurately record job details, materials used, and completion notes using handheld devices or job sheets
19. Maintain tools, equipment, and company vehicle in good working order
20. Manage daily workload efficiently to meet service level targets

Role Criteria:

21. Proven experience in domestic repairs and maintenance across multiple trades (e.g, plastering, tiling, painting & decorating etc.)
22. Damp and mould remediation experience
23. Full UK driving licence
24. Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively
25. Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
26. Excellent customer service skills, with experience working in occupied homes
27. Good understanding of health and safety regulations and safe working practices
28. Ability to use handheld devices or job management systems to record work
29. Willingness to participate in out-of-hours emergency rota
