Overview
This is an opportunity for an experienced HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist to work in a busy department which provides a full range of clinical and diagnostic services to NHS Tayside. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to work in the Virology section of the Medical Microbiology Laboratory at Ninewells Hospital, which undertakes 300,000 investigations per annum. The department is approved by the Institute of Biomedical Science and NHS Education Scotland as a training laboratory and has UKAS accreditation to the ISO 15189 standard.
Responsibilities and Qualifications
We are looking for a senior member of staff who can demonstrate effective leadership and initiative. Candidates must be flexible and be able to work as part of a team. Extensive post‑registration experience in a UK NHS diagnostic Microbiology/Virology laboratory is essential. The applicant must have or be working towards a FIBMS/MSc in Microbiology/Virology or equivalent M‑level achievement. HCPC registration as a Biomedical Scientist is required, and the candidate must have completed an IBMS specialist portfolio in an appropriate subject or an equivalent qualification recognised by the IBMS. The HCPC registration number must be stated on the application form.
The role will be performed in a modern, progressive, well‑equipped and fully computerised laboratory. Post‑qualification professional development is encouraged and supported.
Hours and Roster
Hours of work are 36 hours per week over Monday to Friday. Saturdays are worked as part of the normal roster. On attaining the appropriate competencies you will also join the roster for the out‑of‑hour sessions, which include Saturdays and public holidays.
Interview Process
Interviews will be held in person, and a presentation will form part of the interview process. Remote interviews will not be offered.
