Senior Structural Engineer Job Overview
* Lead the design and delivery of structural engineering projects across a range of sectors including residential, commercial, and mixed-use developments
* Prepare and review structural calculations, drawings, reports, and specifications in line with current standards and best practice
* Work closely with clients, architects, and contractors to develop practical and cost-effective structural solutions
* Undertake structural analysis and design using relevant software and manual calculations
* Oversee and coordinate project delivery, ensuring programmes, budgets, and quality standards are achieved
* Attend site visits, inspections, and project meetings to monitor progress and resolve technical queries
* Mentor and support junior engineers and technicians, contributing to their ongoing professional development
* Ensure compliance with relevant design codes including Eurocodes and British Standards
* Contribute to continuous improvement of internal processes and technical standards
Senior Structural Engineer Job Requirements
* Chartered Engineer (CEng) or working towards chartership
* Degree qualified in Structural or Civil Engineering
* Minimum 5–7 years' experience within a structural engineering consultancy environment
* Strong experience in the design of building structures using materials such as steel, concrete, timber, and masonry
* Proficient in structural design software such as Tekla Tedds, Robot, ETABS, or similar
* Experience using AutoCAD; familiarity with Revit would be advantageous
* Good understanding of UK Building Regulations and design standards
* Proven ability to manage projects and communicate effectively with clients and stakeholders
* Experience mentoring junior staff or leading small teams
