Description
We are currently seeking an experienced Freelance General Foreman to work on major National Grid substation projects across the UK.
This role is suited to a hands-on leader with a strong civils background and proven experience working within live substation environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Day-to-day supervision of civils works on National Grid substation sites
- Managing site teams, subcontractors, and plant efficiently and safely
- Ensuring works are delivered in line with programme, drawings, and specifications
- Maintaining high standards of health, safety, and environmental compliance
- Liaising with site management, engineers, and National Grid representatives
- Coordinating RAMS, permits, and site documentation
Essential Experience & Requirements
- Proven experience as a General Foreman on National Grid or similar DNO projects
- Strong background in civils works (foundations, ducting, drainage, concrete, earthworks)
- Experience working within substations / live environments
- Excellent leadership and communication skills
- Valid SMSTS / SSSTS
- National Grid safety authorisations (preferred)
- CSCS card
