Job Description
The Operations and Maintenance Manager Bacton holds accountability for safe, efficient, and competitive gas production at this late-life terminal. Reporting to the Asset Manager, you will lead a frontline operations and maintenance team, motivate them to meet business targets, and collaborate with technical and office-based staff from NAM/OGW. The plant includes three gas terminals, a condensate export route, and a control room overseeing offshore platforms. It plays a strategic role in UK energy security, supplying gas to the UK and European markets. The role involves interfacing with regulators, industry stakeholders, and customers.
What’s the role?
Accountabilities
* Promote a safety culture emphasizing Goal Zero for personal and process safety, demonstrating visible safety leadership.
* Represent the site legally as Duty Holder, complying with UK legislation.
* Ensure safety, asset integrity, environmental compliance, and performance, maintaining top-tier COMAH standards.
* Deliver improvement projects to optimize production and cash flow.
* Manage a desalination unit and its processes.
* Drive a high-performance, engaged workforce with staff development and succession planning.
* Coordinate with offshore operations and technical teams to prioritize threats and opportunities.
* Manage external stakeholders, including regulators and the community.
* Lead the Bacton leadership team and contribute to the asset management.
Key challenges
* Managing asset integrity and enhancing process safety and operational excellence.
* Addressing maintenance backlog cost-effectively.
* Making tough decisions to ensure medium to long-term operational robustness.
What we need from you
* Background in Production Operations, Maintenance, or Process Engineering, with at least a BSc or equivalent.
* Proven safety leadership and understanding of HSSE frameworks.
* Effective communicator, responsive leader.
* Experience with Emergency Response and Safety cases is desirable.
* People-focused with organizational change skills.
